
American actor Thomas William Selleck. His first role was private detective Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) during which time he was nominated 5 times for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in the Drama Series. The award was presented to him in 1985. In the series Blue Bloods, Selleck has appeared as Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. Beginning in 2005 the actor has played the troubled police chief of a small town Jesse Stone in nine television films that were based on the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). In addition, he has appeared in more than 50 other film and television roles since Magnum, P.I., including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He appeared on television in recurring characters as Monica Geller's love-interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends and also as Lance White, the likeable and unassuming partner in The Rockford Files, and as the casino's owner A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. Cooper also played the leading role in the TV western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran, a spokesman for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and an endorser for advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
